Fabiola with chickens ...Recent pics /pics of fabiola home and her mummy

Fabiola/ Mayan families

MAIN DIET
Often the children have only tortillas with salt to eat because the mother does not earn enough to feed them.
HOUSING SITUATION
The husband owns the house they live in. They have one room and a kitchen. It is made of cement block. The roof is tin. The floor is cement.
ELECTRICITY
They have electricity connected and pay $13 US per month.

WATER
They have water connected and pay $1 US per month.

BATHROOM
They have a flushing toilet in a separate structure that they share with Cesar's mother family. To clean themselves they go to the pila.

STOVE
They now have an onil stove, donated to the family in February 2012.

PILA
They have a pila.
A pila is a large, usually outdoor sink made either of cement or plastic that is essential to Guatemalan life.  In this sink, they wash clothing and dishes and store water, and for families without a shower, it is used for bucket baths.
TABLES AND CHAIRS
They have three chairs and one table.

CLOTHING STORAGE
They do not have a closet.
BEDS
They have one little mattress which Henri sleeps on and the rest of the family sleep on the one bed.

WATER FILTER
They have a water filter since 2008. They received replacement cartridges in January 2013.

CHICKENS
They had two egg-laying hens but they died. The family would like some more.
These can help to provide the family with a supplemental income and source of protein.
FAMILY NEEDS
There are leaks in the roof, it needs repairing.
They also need food.
To provide the family with these essential needs, please visit http://www.mayanfamilies.org/DonateNow or contact our Family Aid Coordinator at familyaid@mayanfamlies.org. Thank you!
