They have water connected.

BATHROOM

The family has a ceramic toilet and a shower.

STOVE

They cook over an open fire.

Open fires are dangerous for small children and can cause respiratory illness.

PILA

They have a pila.

A pila is a large, usually outdoor sink made either of cement or plastic that is essential to Guatemalan life. In this sink, they wash clothing and dishes and store water, and for families without a shower, it is used for bucket baths.

Tap water in Guatemala is very unsafe for drinking and can lead to parasites and disease. A water filter would give the family clean, safe drinking water for 550,000 gallons of water, approximately 10 years.

CHICKENS

They have ten chickens.
